Disney Villains Halloween Tutorial: Cruella De Vil

“Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil
If she doesn't scare you no
evil thing will”

Her look technically could be more wearable but I wouldn’t recommend it for your average work day! I wanted to really emphasize her bloody red lips and severely angular face. Our features couldn’t be more different which is why contouring was a big part of this tutorial. I chose a slightly more gray-based brown to contour my cheeks and temples

If you’re going to be Cruella De Vil for Halloween, I’d recommend you go all out with a black clingy dress and find a faux fur coat (try a thrift store and you can use black pain or spray paint to create the spotted Dalmatian look). Top it off with some over the top jewelry and that fancy little cigarette and people will be sure to recognize you.

October Ipsy Unboxing & Review

Oh Ipsy, how I love thee. Let me count the ways...

No really, I've always loved Ipsy/GlamBag but this month I really LOVE Ipsy. Unlike last month,
October did not disappoint! We got a very cute white and pink bag that you can actually
decorate and design if you want to personalize it, and 5 other products that cover nails,
nair, face, eyes and brushes!
Honestly, how cute is the bag and check out the array of beauty products! I personally love the Coastal Scents medium shadow brush, it's flat but thick and verrrry soft. I've been using my Ole Henriksen truth revealed super creme SPF 15 for 5 days now and I really like it. It's a thinner consistency but takes very little to moisturize my whole face. And get this...I actually feel like it moisturizes!

I haven't used my stylesexyhair spray clay yet but if you want to have a good laugh at me gagging watch my YouTube video below ;) I'm sure it works great as the rest of the Big Sexy Hair line is pretty fab.

Be still my beating heart, Zoya's Neve is gorgeous! I work this last week and it lasted 4 days before chipping with no base or top coat. Unheard of for me! Such a gorgeous indigo-ish color with blue/purple hues and a slight pink shimmer undertone. Beautiful. Just beautiful. Check out my nails below.

Now you can see in the pic to the right that I'm wearing an amazing navy shadow. Meet Navy from Bella Terra Minerals, a stunning metallic navy that I'm 100% digging right now. I don't normally rock bright bold blue lids but I couldn't help myself. This shadow is crazy pigmented. Get it. Like, now.

I've also seen the purple/plum color that some girls got and that's just as beautiful.

Check out my initial reactions here:

So I gotta say all in all, this bag just might be my favorite and I've been subscribed to Ipsy for
almost a year now. Everything is great from the bag to the face cream to the makeup.
And any month they give me a Zoya polish is a good month.

Do you subscribe to Ipsy? What'd you get this month? If you want to subscribe
just click here and you can sign up. $10/month, no shipping, and you get some
pretty awesome products. Love it!

Disney Villains Halloween Tutorial: Mother Gothel

Recreating Mother Gothel was interesting. I wanted to something crazy and theatrical like I have in the past few weeks but Mother Gothel has a more wearable look since…well…she’s a human not a witch or lion. And even her costume is pretty, well, pretty. A simple red dress, not the robes and headdresses of Jafar. So I decided to take the plunge and really try to do something I’m not too comfortable with: recreating a beautiful eye look.

Crazy but her eyeshadow really is beautiful. It’s smokey yet natural and her eyes look so big! Completely different than mine. So I busted out my Sonia Kashuk matte neutrals and Jewel of an Eye palettes. I fell in love with this look almost immediately, it’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a while now so it’s funny that I finally achieved it doing a Halloween tutorial!

Now of course the one day I need crazy curly hair, my hair is straight! I thought adding a hooded cloak would be a nice reference back to her sneaky stroll through the woods that revealed just how devious and manipulative Mother Gothel was. She’s the type of mother none of us want…and all of us fear!

Check out my YouTube tutorial here!

I know it's not as exciting as some of the past looks I've done but I really love this. It's such an
easy costume to put together, minimal work and cost and let's be honest, we all wait until the last
second to prepare for Halloween so this is perfect!

If you try this, or any, Mother Gothel looks let me know and link it down below. I'd love to see!
And don't forget to check out Andee and Maria's Disney Villains Linky Party for more amazing looks!

Lorac Unzipped: Review & Swatches

I have a new obsession...I've had the Lorac Unzipped palette for a few months
now and just recently rediscovered it.  I absolutely love this palette. Even though I like
the Lorac Pro palette and don't regret purchasing it, it's not special or dear to my heart.
I'm a girl that needs shimmer, needs something pretty and that pop of color. And even
though you may look at Unzipped and say, 'Hey, those are all neutrals,'
I see something so much more.

I see beautiful bronzes, shimmering sands, captivating cocoas... the quality, pigmentation
and blendability of this palette by far makes this one of my all time favorites. And the gorgeous mix
of shimmery shades and mattes make for an extremely practice palette.

From left to right I swatched the top and bottom rows. The top photo is
in the shade and the bottom photo is in direct sunlight.

Undercover (Nude Matte), Unbelievable (Copper Shimmer), Unattainable (Bronze Shimmer), Unconditional (Fawn Matte), Unbridled (Merlot Matte), Undiscovered (Gold Shimmer), Unreal (Champagne Shimmer), Uncensored (Chocolate Shimmer), Unspoken (Sable Matte), Untamed (Bordeaux Shimmer)   ~from the Sephora.com site

This palette can be found at www.Ulta.com or www.Sephora.com
for $40.00 and comes with an eye primer.

Have you tried this palette? What do you think? I'm always
interested to read what you guys have to say!

Maybelline Limited Edition Haul & Giveaway

What the What?!?! That's what happens when I walk into Bed Bath & Beyond and find not 1, not 2, but what seems like a gazillion new displays of limited edition Maybelline products. Yes, the dreaded limited edition products. Why do they do this to us, why? I can't even tell you how excited I was to see these displays. Which is why I went back mayyybe 2 more times to pick up more.

I am loving their Color Elixer Glosses by Color Sensational. These are being marketed as a lip balm, lip stick and gloss all in one with amazing pigmentation, nourishment and tons of shine. There are 20 vibrant and luxurious hues including a staple that I carry with me everywhere, Rose Redefined. Signature Scarlet, Vision in Violet, Fuchsia Flourish, Caviar Couture…gorgeous names for some of the most gorgeous colors I’ve seen.

I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited for a new lipstick line, I mean balm, or gloss ;)
And let’s not forget to mention the sleek, sexy packaging. Love it!

The Maybelline site sells these for $8.99 and I’ve heard they're priced upwards of
$10  in certain areas! I was lucky enough to find them for $6.49 at my local

Disney Villains Halloween Tutorial: Jafar

Okay guys, this one was a challenge. I had no idea how I was going to put together
Jafar's robes and turban and most importantly...his curly goatee!!! But I had to step up
to the plate and at least try, right? I'm definitely not that girl that practices looks :/ I do it
one time and that's it so I was relieved when my husband freaked out and said I 'straight
up looked like a dude!' What a compliment, what do you guys think?

Not too bad if I do say so myself. Let's take a closer look...

It was really fun to dig through my closet and
pull together this look. I used a black skirt for
the turban and filled it with clothing to shape it.
The pendant is the closest thing I could find to
Jafar's jewels.

A beige tank top is hanging from my ears, that
was interesting, let me tell you! I stuck an upside
down hangar behind my neck and draped a long
black dress to resemble Jafar's regal robes.

FACE:

Maybelline PhotoReady Bronzer (Bronzed & Chic)
Jordana 12HR Made To Last Pencil (Continuous Almond)
WnW Fantasy Makers Crayon (Black)

LIPS:

L'Oreal Colour Riche LeMatte (No Matte-R What)
Disney Villains Halloween Tutorial Jafar (Tenacious Brown)

Eyes:

WnW Fantasy Makers Crayon (Red)
Hard Candy Eye Def Metallic (Rose Amour)
Urban Decay Ammo Palette (Oilslick)
Covegirl Flamed Out Crayon (
WnW Camera Obscura Trio under the eye
NYX Roll-on Shimmer (Taupe)
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Pencil (Zero)
Physicians Formula Eye Booster Liquid Liner
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara

Let me know what you guys think and any other looks you may want to see.

NOTD: Fun & Festive Fall Nails (Zoya)

I was definitely inspired by Autumn when I chose these gorgeous colors. Zoya’s Pixie Dust collection is one of my all time favorites. The slightly rough, sugar texture is fun and different, not annoying at all like some other textured polishes. They have the most gorgeous sparkle and shimmer, unlike any other polish I’ve personally seen.

I adore the green, silver and gold sparkles in Chita (and what a cute name). This green is amazing, unique and truly special. Tomoko is a beautiful ethereal gold that almost hints of platinum (crazy!) in certain lights.

The best part for me is that I can wear these for a full week with no chipping, I repeat, NO CHIPPING. There is some wear at the tips but because of the dimension and texture, it is almost completely unnoticeable.

So if you can’t tell already, I adore this whole line and wish I owned every one. Zoya’s nail polishes are always smooth, long lasting and easy to apply. I’ll say it, I like these even more than my beloved Essie, Wet n Wild and China Glaze! If you don’t own any Zoya polishes, specifically the Pixie line, go get you some! You won’t be disappointed!!!

Disney Villains Halloween Tutorial: The Evil Queen

The Evil Queen instilled a fear of fruit in all children...or was it just me? I never understood why she was so cruel to dear  sweet Now White. I mean, her best friends were dwarfs and bunnies, for crying out loud!!!

So here's my look, what do you think? Don't forget to check out Andee and Maria's blogs for more Makeup Monday Disney Villains looks!

Watch my YouTube tutorial here!

The really fun part was, of course, accessorizing. I jazzed it up with the face shield my husband uses for work. This was critical to really pull everything together. The crown is actually a gold wrap belt I've had forever. It pays to never throw anything away, right? ;) I also added a bronze jeweled necklace and wooden jewelry box (to hold the hearts I collect!) to complete the look.

Is this evil enough for you? Let me know what you think and
share any requests you may have for me. This is so fun and I'd love
to see what else I can try to create for you guys!

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag!

I was tagged for the very first time by TiffanyBeauty101 and I must say, I’m a bit honored, haha! I saw Emily from Beauty Broadcast do this a few weeks ago and I’m so glad to be tagged because it sounded fun. So let’s go!!

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do?
Disinfecting my makeup. At one point I was pretty good at this but I’ve been really bad about this. Even though I’m the only one using it, it’s important to make sure the outside is clean and the makeup itself is disinfected. It just seems like such a daunting task. I guess I could incorporate it into my weekly makeup baskets, so I’m only doing a bit at a time.

2. Is washing your make-up brushes something that you do regularly?
Yes, I think I’m the 1 person on the earth that LOVES washing makeup brushes. There is something oddly satisfying about seeing all that gunk wash down the drain. I’m pretty obsessive about it actually. Once I have a handful of brushes I’ll clean them even if I have clean ones waiting. And my regular face brushes get a good deep cleaning at least once a week.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
Ahhhh chipped polish, the bane of my existence. I absolutely hate shipped nail polish but just out of principle I’ll wait at least a day after the first chip. Usually my polish will just wear around the edges so it's not too bad. However, my nails are currently driving me crazy!  --->

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?
Ummmm…I have no idea because I don’t think I’ve ever run out of anything….ever. Yes, I’m a hoarder. No, I don’t want help.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Getting my hair cut. I'm TERRIBLE about keeping up with this. My last hair cut was last winter :/ no excuses, I'm just realllly lazy about doing this.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
Vacuuming, cleaning windows…all the crazy big stuff. I’m just bad about that kind of thing. I need to get my game up!

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?
If it’s the mall or foodshopping, yes. If I’m going out for drinks or a date with my husband or event I will give myself hours to get ready because…well, it’s actually relaxing for me. I put on YouTube videos and leisurely get ready which I love. No rushing for this lady.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
Absolutely not. Can you tell from this pic? I’ve tried a few times only to fail miserably. Now I’m really just trying to think about each purchase. Do I have anything like this? Will I cry if I don’t have it? Can I wait until tomorrow? I try to wait a few days and usually the need goes away unless I’m in love with something.

9. How organized is your make-up and nail polish collections?
I just reorganized my makeup so it’s a lot better but I need more space (which I shouldn’t, but I do). Nail polish. I’m trying, really I am! There’s a lot there. I know where everything is. Does that count?

Thanks for tagging me, Tiffany! This was fun and a little eye opening
concerning the things I need to change, haha! Why don't you guys
comment and share your answers to a few questions?

Thursday Favorite Things: The Possible Project

The Possible Project (TPP) is an afterschool youth entrepreneurship center that teaches Cambridge high school students to start and run their own businesses. Isn’t that amazing?

And I got to attend their first event “Powering Possibilities” Tuesday night with my coworkers as our company is a patron of the program. We were able to network and view first hand, just how bright and eager these young students were to succeed and excel.

They were and are an inspiration to all of us and I really felt a connection with the group. I strongly recommend you check them out at www.possibleproject.com and see how you can support this wonderful team that is enriching the world around us!

And you know I had to take some pics of the amazing
food and of my work girlfriends!  We had a blast and
all for such a wonderful organization :)
